I have been processing this book.... And so it took me a week to get around to finally marking it read. I just love coming across a new fantasy book that feels fresh, vibrant, interesting and compelling. The characters were interesting and fun, the plot was basic but with a folky element that keeps things off kilter and surprising to some extent, and the world building was *chef's kiss*.

I loved the offhand comments that were made that added depth and intrigue to the mundane. For instance there is some oddness regarding time and a man who has employees offhandedly mentions this time oddity making wages difficult to determine.

Just overall an interesting and fun read. And the audiobook narrator was killer. Definitely going to be trying to find the rest of the series in audiobook specifically.
