Never Whistle at Night: An Indigenous Dark Fiction Anthology by Shane Hawk, Theodore C. Van Alst Jr.
4.0
adventurous challenging dark emotional mysterious reflective tense fast-paced

As a rule, I normally avoid anthologies or short story compilations because when I finish reading them I feel like things were left unsaid. This was not the case with this anthology. I liked way more stories than I disliked. A few left me wanting more or scratching my head wondering if I missed the point.

I definitely got thrills and chills while reading these creepy stories. I was familiar with quite a few of the legends and lore from the stories which surprised me.

I felt that the majority of the stories were very well written with various messages. There were a couple stories that felt unfinished to me. I also had issues with the writing style in a couple of the stories. But the stories I liked far outnumbered the stories I didn’t like.
