Night Shift by Stephen King
5.0

Okay, Night Shift made me want to retract all the less-than-positive things I've said about short story collections! Seriously, seriously AMAZING! This feels like King writing at his very best. It's been a while since I read a King that truly frightened me, and multiple stories in this collection struck fear into my heart. I was actually scared to go to sleep last night!

Highlights for me (bar all of them) were Sometimes They Come Back, One For the Road, The Boogeyman, Children of the Corn, and I Am the Doorway, but honestly they're all amazing!!! The only one I didn't love as much was The Woman in the Room, which was a bit of a shame as it's the last one. The Lawnmower Man and The Mangler were bizarre but great! King's imagination is just unreal.

My beef with short stories is usually that they just feel unfinished and I'm left wanting more, but with Night Shift, I definitely wanted the stories to continue, but they were very satisfactory at the same time!
