After You by Jojo Moyes
3.0

If i said that this book is unnecessary I’m sure I’m going to get attacked by a bunch of people so I’m not going to say it. I even feel bad for even thinking it, to be honest. When I read Me Before You I was completely blown away. I mean it was one of those romance books that doesn’t make you cringe or want to claw your eyes out. The main character, Louisa, is strong as hell and she’s super hilarious. She became a carer for Will Traynor, a quadriplegic, and extremely bitter man. In MBY Will Traynor chose to die with dignity rather than continuing to live like they way he did. It was extremely sad in the end and I bawled like crazy. I thought that was it. Then this book came out and i was like ??? But Will died??? But of course that was a wrong thinking. The main character is Louisa in MBY and just because Will died, so what? Her life carries on. Though, yes, it’s hard to carry on even for us readers because let’s be real, Will Traynor was such an amazing character, we all miss him and it’s just not the same without him.

In After You, Louisa moves on with her life. She works as a bartender, lives alone, not dating anyone, and positively depressed. Louisa was stuck in a ditch. Then one day she fell off a building and her life changed, yet again. She met a guy, she went to a group therapy, and then there’s that matter with WIll’s daughter (“what the hell, Maddy!” you might say. Well, go on and read the book. Sorry I spoiled this bit for you, but you might need it for the motivation!), and then she got another job in New York. Some people might say that this is one of those unnecessary sequel, but damn it I think it is. It’s an aftermath book, not as much fun, true, but hey, that’s real life.
