A Court of Mist and Fury
by Sarah J. Maas
This is the second book I have read in the series as part of the @tandemcollectiveuk readalong and I definitely hope book three arrives soon as I need to know what happens!
So let’s start with the fact that I felt like the first half was very similar to the first book in the way that it was mainly build up for what was to come. I do think we could have got there quicker. I missed the banter between Freyer and Lucian and it really didn’t feel like Tamlin was even really there in the book despite being mentioned several times. I found that a bit odd considering how heavily focused the first book had been on him.
I did really like that we got to learn more about Rhysand character, I already liked him in #acotar as I could see there was more to him, he reminds me of the Damien character from vampire diary’s. The change in Freyer also made a welcome surprise as I was getting a bit fed up of her whiny damsel in distressness in book one!
Overall I enjoyed it and can see why there is so much hype around this series, I’m looking forward to book three.
This series does have issues such as toxic masculinity and so would be good to be mindful of this when reading.
