Wowee, it is depressing how much in this book about contemporary feminism in the West published in 2000 is still relevant today.  bell hooks really was one of the most intelligent and empathetic people alive, and I'm so glad she decided to share her thoughts with us. I too now want to carry around copies of this to just hand to people so they can stop telling me anecdotes about a "feminist" who spat in a guys face for opening a door for her or whatever delightful thing they'll say when I try to engage in feminist discussion 🙃
