strangenessbooks 's review for:
Shiver
by Maggie Stiefvater
This book was always sold/warned of to me due to its similarity to Twilight. So is it that similar or does it just shared shelf space being a romantic YA paranormal.
I'm bored so let's break this down:
Similarities:
~Protagionist are both "Independent" due to having neglectful parents.
~Werewolves exist in this world but vastly different mythology.
~Protagionist have their lives save by the Love Interest at some point.
Differences:
~No shaming about sex.
~Shiver has a slow plot but doesn't feel like it was a second thought half way in.
~Grace has friends and not slowly isolating herself.
~I liked this without a but. (I love Vampires therefore I hate Twilight and think Stephenie Myer is a liar but that's whatever).
~No fae claiming to be vampires.
I'm no longer bored. In all seriousness I think this book is like Marmite. You either like what it's doing or you hate it.
