I just couldn't do it. I'd picked this up on the promised strength of the inventive exploration of a telepath sub-society. Halfway through and there's none of that. They make word pictures. That's all I got. The main plot is so thin and weird and boring that it's not worth explaining.
I was prepared for the 1950's era mores and attitudes towards gender roles and whatnot, but I thought there'd be more interesting ideas, or at least a story.
