xennicole 's review for:
Tyrant: Shakespeare on Politics
by Stephen Greenblatt
I haven't read a book that was so timely in modern-day current events that did not invoke today. The book is so well-written that you knew what the author was writing out without having to write about the subject. Tyrants and their reign have always had a fascinating history and at the beginning of Shakespeare's bread and butter was from writing the plays that showed the human by-product of a leader so engrossed with being powerful, liked and raised so quickly but unable to kept the power that he/she so maliciously bestowed to see their downfall. The audience/reader/history considers the defeat and hopefully learns the lessons not to repeat. If only we remember the past, read the art and learn from mistakes perhaps we would never make these errors over and over again.
