I feel like if I read this book 20 years ago, then I would have been blown away by it. The world building is great and Gaiman stays with the fantasy tropes by providing a quest for his characters to go on. It's a good time and a lot of fun.
I think the concept of "magic in the current city that's around us" has been done a lot and done better. But I don't hold him or the book at fault. To me, this feels like it was one of the first that made the concept popular. So as trendsetters and pioneers, others will take what has been established and go further. Even Gaiman himself does it better with American Gods.
The world is still interesting. The characters are still fun. It's still an enjoyable read. I just wish I had read it earlier.
