dermkat 's review for:
Next To You
by Hannah Bonam-Young
I'll have to come back to this. Right now I'm spending time in my feelings and scream messaging Hannah.
I've already raved to you about how I loved Hannah's first book (Next of Kin) and now I can firmly say that I love her second one even more! I was so happy to received an ARC for Next to You and thrilled to discover that somehow @hannahby_writes is magic and saw inside my brain and life before we even started getting to know each other and obviously used me as inspiration for Lane. Even better, we are now getting to know each other, so I could scream cry message her all of my reactions each time I discovered something else!
In all seriousness, I have seen so many other ARC readers post that they have to sit with their feelings and process how good the book was before doing a real review and I had to do the same. It is a testament to how great a writer Hannah is that so many people can be so moved by her words and relate to her characters so deeply. What I will say now is that if you haven't read NOK you should ASAP and then definitely read NTY when it comes out Nov 29/22!
For now, swipe to the next pic to get a plot blurb, and here are just some of the ways I feel that I am Lane (without real spoilers, so IYKYK):
💜Though I haven't gone quite as vivid, I don't feel myself without my colorful hair (purple for me!).
💜I once thought I lost Murb on my birthday and had a bit of a meltdown before and after I found him because cats are liquid.
💜I have a condition that means I am more likely to sometimes have to and often times want to stay home more than not, and can find it hard to do otherwise.
💜I have contemplated the renovated-van tiny home life, though I do not have the funds or a hunky mechanic man friend to accomplish it.
💜I have a healthy respect for The Frizz.
Hannah: thank you friend for the ARC, the chats, and your words!
