An intriguing tale of a young, intelligent girl living in the French Quarter of New Orleans in 1950. She is the daughter of a prostitute and wants to escape the life she currently leads. Colorful characters, fast paced action (gambling, guns, and murder - oh my!) and well written descriptions made this an engrossing read. I enjoyed the ending as well.
