this book was phenomenal. in so so many ways and i loved it so much. in this city of bones meets queer normality this book had it all.
whilst most complained about info dumping, i didn’t find this to be the case at all. all of it was well placed and i understood the setting perfectly.
the characters were all so loveable and the plot was so fun to follow along with. i laughed so much with this book.
nausicaä and vehan were my favourite characters for complete polar opposite reasons and the characterisations of every character in this book was phenomenal.
my only complaint is that it isn’t longer (and this review is very sleep addled, i’ll rewrite it in the morning 😅).
either way preordering ACOFL asap, cannot wait to see what happens next.
also also, the effortless use of neo pronouns and gender neutral pronouns was so amazing to see as well as actually using the word lesbian on page, which is surprisingly uncommon. i felt very accepted reading this, this book feels a little bit like home.
and also, for the record, place any 6ft tall sword wielding lesbian in front of me and i’m already in love. i’m very simple to please. and she’s sarcastic too??? nos’s hand in marriage pls
