Simulacra and Simulation by Jean Baudrillard
DID NOT FINISH: 0%

NB: This is marked as a DNF because I read roughly half of the essays in the book.

Wow. This book was so confusing for absolutely no reason. Jean Baudrillard feels like the kind of guy who really likes to hear himself speak because he sure did say the same confusing points over, and over, and over again. The mountains of inaccessible academic rhetoric and Baudrillard's refusal to contextualize a single thing he references throughout made it impossible for me to fully engage with his theories. From what I could parse I do think his observation occasionally rang true and his model of simulacra could be applied to certain phenomena in fascinating ways. But, the occasional good point didn't make up for the egregious writing.
