Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson follows Mary a 16 year old girl who is living in a group home after being released from what she called “baby jail” after being convicted of murdering a baby, (allegedly).
This is a young adult thriller. It is steady-paced and has a lot of emotionally upsetting moments especially when discussing the events leading up to and the during the murder. You want to feel bad for Mary. You want her to tell the “truth”.
You root for her. You hope she gets everything she wants. This was a good read. I wasn’t like enthralled but I enjoyed it and the end did rattle me. I was annoyed with it. The writing bugged me a little but that is a personal preference.
I think if you want a gritty young adult thriller with an unreliable narrator this is for you.
