this was a good story.
i liked the character for the most part and the writing was easy to understand and follow which i think is especially for the age range this book is targeted at wonderful since it might be the thing to give them the confidence to move in to other poetry and verse that they wouldn’t think they could understand
(a feeling i had most of my life since this type of verse writing didn’t really exist in my language at the time or at least it wasn’t something easily to find or available! and so trying classics first? didn’t world for me which is why it took me years to actually brave verse written books)
the actual story?
it was okay.
there was a lot that was either to easy or too coincidental for me to absolutely love this.
for example i didn’t mit understand after a few weeks someone wouldn’t make sure that all things necessary are availability to them.
i would have done that at that age out of fear what would happen if i didn’t.
after the first winter?
i would have made sure there is wood drying, i would have started planting food and read how to preserve that from the library the character loves.
read books on surviving, making water save to drink and use… you have the time and an entire time of stuff available for your use, prepare!
so that was frustrating for me.
sure at some point that came but it all took a long time and tom long for me.
that girl was 13/14 when this really started.
that’s someone that is able to know when it’s time to prepare for the worst.
especially if you know the weather in the area your in.
also the ending?
mhm.
the book literary talked about that kind of thing just a few pages before and how unrealistic and not something that could happen is.
and than that’s what the author does?
mhm.
either leave the criticism of that kind of ending out and go with it or don’t write that kind of ending, maybe?
doing both in less then 30 pages after each other? little strange.
overall?
it’s a good read and a great one for middle grade readers and the younger range of young adults -as well as anyone else of course!
it’s a good read and a well done survival story.
