This is So Happening
by Amelia Kingston
4.5 stars really!
While I adored Elizabeth and Austin’s story in So, That Got Weird, it took me just a bit to get into Jessie and Devin’s story. That surprised me a bit, because I really did like Jessie from meeting her in the first book. I totally understood Jessie in her keeping busy, having trouble saying no to people personality. But her outgoing and going after the guy she wanted definitely was not me. I think that’s why I had the issue at the beginning. I just know I personally would have given up with Devin’s total rejection over and over. But it’s really good that Jessie didn’t, because the two of them were perfect together.
Once they’d kind of gotten into a rhythm, I really started enjoying the story a lot more. The physical connection was definitely there from the start, even as Devin tried to deny it. I think just his actions at the beginning when we were in the chapters from Jessie’s point of view are what made it hard for me to understand how she didn’t give up.
While Devin’s parents definitely were ones that made his life really hard, Jessie had a great family. But, I do get her feelings of making sure what she did lived up to their wishes. That is something I have struggled with, when really I should, like Jessie ended up doing, go with what I know is what I want and really would be great at.
I don’t know if we’ll get any more books in this series, and who they might be about, but I do enjoy this author’s writing and hope to read more in the future!
