Love Between Fairy and Devil (Novel) Vol. 1
by Jiu Lu Fei Xiang
Love Between Fairy & Devil is more than a little bizarre for a fantasy romance. Honestly, I spent much of my time reading it asking myself "did that really just happen?". There's body swapping, sharing bodies, and a variety of other body related weirdness which I won't spoil. It did however all successfully make me want to find out what would happen next.
The main couple are interesting enough and I like that it's very much a slowburn enemies to lovers (don't expect them to be together by the end of this first book). I do feel that none of the other characters really received much if any development, and the writing isn't amazing (though as always it's hard to know how much is owing to translation).
Overall I was intrigued by this rather than genuinely loving it, but I am interested enough that I will be picking up book two.

Note to anyone who has seen the live action TV series Love Between Fairy and Devil - while it's nominally based on this novel, the plotline is significantly different and so are many of the characters. I had heard that in advance so went in prepared to mentally separate the two - and I highly recommend that approach or else you'll be confused and probably disappointed.
