The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
3.0

Not a perfect book, but an enjoyable one. Strengths included the main character, Susie - a refreshingly real teenage perspective, honest without being cringeworthy. Quite slow paced but I didn't think that was a bad thing. However, this IS one of those rare times I prefer the movie to the book; possibly because the casting of the movie was so incredibly on point, and I have a feeling my experience of the book was enhanced by having seen the movie first. Tucci as Harvey bought that character to life and made me scared of him and I'm not sure I would have experienced that if I had read the book without seeing the movie. The movie also strips out or changes a lot of the weirdness from the book, tidying up the story and making the narrative much more compelling.
