Gemina by Jay Kristoff, Amie Kaufman
5.0

A solid follow-up to the first book. I don't think this was necessarily better than book 1 (which I rated 4.5, with this at 5 stars ... but here I think I was already involved in the world. Hooked). I was a little nervous when I found that rather than being a specific sequel, that this featured a new boy/girl on a different ship. Would I feel the same about new characters? This did feel like a continuation of the story. Familiar names, similar situations ... the presentation was the same, a compilation of gathered files rather than a straightforward telling of the story.

... if you don't experience the audio edition, you don't know what THAT SONG sounds like! "I wanna lick your lollypop" ... the partial song is produced and played several times. Radio worthy! It's a bit of a pet peeve at times in audiobooks when a character is "singing" something and the narrator doesn't sing it. I mean, I understand, someone who narrates as a profession may not be a singer too (although that has happened as well) but HERE, the audiobook is a complete production. Full cast. Sound effects. And a pop song included.

I did connect with the new characters here, and was stressed about the situations they found themselves in. Near the end though, it got a little repetitive. Some scenes we'd see more than once from different perspectives.

I'll absolutely continue on with this series, and am already starting to be sad that it will be over with the next book! Before I even start it!
