Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert
5.0

Just weeks after devouring [b:Get a Life, Chloe Brown|43884209|Get a Life, Chloe Brown (The Brown Sisters, #1)|Talia Hibbert|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1553318108l/43884209._SY75_.jpg|66903616], I was all too happy to dive into the life of another Brown sister. Dani's sarcasm (reminiscent of Chloe) paired with her passionate & confident demeanor, not to mention the constant reminder's of Zafir's physical size and his love of romance novels (!!!), makes for an addictive read.

Dani is a low-key witch and a PhD student studying literature and teaching alongside her studies at the university. That's where she met the security guard of her academic building, Zafir, who is a former rugby star. Dani is getting over a friends-with-benefits arrangement that ended badly when the other young woman wanted more than Dani was willing to offer her. Zafir is still recovering from emotional trauma leftover from the compound tragedy of the death of his father and brother. He's slowly trying to build an organization he created called Tackle It, meant to combine sports with lessons that will teach boys how to embrace their own emotions rather than perpetuate toxic masculinity.

The book starts off with a bang when a fire drill goes awry. Dani is trapped in an elevator, and Zafir, whose crush on Dani makes her absence apparent, rushes back into the building when she is nowhere to be found. He pries open the elevator doors with his hands and carries her outside. Some interested undergrads film the whole thing, capturing the sparkling way the pair look at each other and the video quickly goes viral along with the hashtag #DrRubae. Zafir's niece tags him in the video and just like that, Tackle It is receiving unprecedented donations. Seeing an opening, he asks Dani for a favor.

“She thought that he was just sweet, loving, maybe a little old-fashioned, but now she realized he was... inspired. That he was one of those people, one of many, whose lives have been forever changed by someone else’s words. And that wasn’t something Dani treated lightly. She made her living out of words. She knew very well what they could be everything. Which made this new information intimidating, to say the least.”

Trying to take advantage of the attention on his organization, he asks Dani if she minds if he doesn't correct anyone who is emailing him with interest for interviews or consulting, letting the world keep loving on their "union". Dani's life is her work, she has no romantic flings on the horizon, so she doesn't mind. Then, despite the fake relationship, their physical connection becomes too obvious to deny, and Dani, desperate for some action, proposes an addendum to their arrangement.
