This novelization of the story between nick and Charlie worked much better for me than the Heartstopper Graphic novels.
I don't even know why exactly, since this entire short story was very much about one specific topic - one of the boys going to uni while the other stays behind in school for another year and their struggle to figure out how they will deal with their new situation and an honest communication of one feeling left behind while the other is excited to go would have gone a very long way.

i didn’t love that about the story and since the entire little story is basically just about this back and forth of one being excited and the other feeling left out and left behind and forgettable…. it was about much for me and what i had available on feelings for this kind of thing at this time in my life right now.

it’s not that it was unrealistic or too dramatic- they are teenagers and many teenagers feel like small changes they make them a few years later doesn’t even matter anymore feel at that particular time like something monomental. i get that and it wasn’t badly written - which is why i think the biggest issue was that it just felt a bit too much for me personally right now. not the story’s fault.

It was well written and nice characters.

I wish those two would have just sat down early on in the story and just shared what they felt and thought about the situation -which honestly is one of my biggest problems i always have with this kind of story -the miscommunication or even more so the noncommunication between a couple.

But overall this was a well done addition and well written and i kind of wish the entire Heartstopper graphic novels would be also written in this novelization format to appeal to readers like me as well, so that they can enjoy that story more as well.

By the way not saying that the Graphic novels are bad! They are just not what i enjoy reading so while i read two of them so far i liked them but didn't feel any connection or the love that so many other readers feel with those books since they are just not my type of genre.
