I first read the Deverry series way, way back in the late 80s/early 90s when the books were first published. I think I might have re-read them once shortly after but it's definitely been about 20 years since I last visited them and I've forgotten the story almost totally - apart from the fact that it was really good.

A re-visit didn't disappoint. Still really good (4.5 stars). A classic traditional good-versus-evil fantasy story in a medieval-style world with magic.
