I’ll probably come back and write a proper review someday. But I just finished Braiding Sweetgrass and my soul feels equal measures of full and empty for having finished. I can honestly say I have never read a book like this one. The topics touched on vary so wildly from economy, environment, to gratefulness, war, famine and belonging. I felt every single word in this book was important from the first word to the very last in the acknowledgment.

I am not an Indigenous reviewer. So there were many of the teachings as well as the past traumas that I cannot understand beyond empathy and unlearning. However, Robins message was a call in to everyone to set up and sit down. Listen to the land. Put down some roots and get in touch with nature. Make changes in our own lives to create real change in the world.

This book was like a warm hug, and a slap of a wake up call. I can’t even describe my emotions in a coherent way. I am grateful for Robin, who is sharing herself, her ideas, her beliefs and her world with us. This fine balance between science and spirit is beautiful... I can’t tell if my brain or my heart feel more full after reading this.

And let me tell you if you need a voice to calm and center you... Robins is the one.
