Woah. I don't even know where to start with this book. It's about an over-achieving girl named Devon Davenport who tries her hardest to be the best in all activities so that people will forget about her low socio-economic level.

Devon Davenport has just secretly had a baby. It was found in the dumpster outside her apartment. Devon Davenport is now considered a CRIMINAL. It is up to the reader to determine her guilt. Was it an attempted murder? Is Devon dangerous to have out on the streets? Or was the "attempted murder" really just an act of denial, from a girl who never knew she was pregnant and doesn't even fully remember the night of the birth? That is up to you, as the reader, to decide.

The content of this book is so intriguing that I found it difficult to put down. "Dumpster babies" were a situation that I had never heard of prior to reading this book, but I now recognize that they are a legitimate issue even in highly advanced countries like the US.

Devon was one of the most interesting characters that I've ever read about. On one hand she was strong, a team leader and a brilliant student. However, when it came to the act of desperation of putting her own child in a Dumpster, and the events that led up to it, Devon frustrated me to no end with her seemingly helplessness.

The supporting characters were very well written. I am a person who is often drawn to courtroom dramas so I thoroughly enjoyed those parts of the book, although I wish that Devon had testified in her own trial. A very good read. :)
