Summer in the City
by Alex Aster
I have been in a rom com mood lately, (I may have read too many angsty and emotional romances in a row) and this one was so much fun. It’s the perfect summer read and the NYC setting was absolute perfection. You know those books where the setting is a character on its own? That’s this book and while I’ve never spent a summer in the city this book made me feel like I have now. Elle was so relatable for me, she’s a quintessential introvert and so many times I was nodding along going, yes that’s me too Elle. Parker was great too, a bit ridiculous but billionaire romance should be over the top, no? If you’re looking for an escapist read with tropes like enemies to lovers, billionaire, just for the summer, fake dating and neighbors this was delightful.
