The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins

I dont read summaries before picking up a book. It’s just a thing I do. So when I started reading this I had some mild assumption that based on the cover and the title this would be about some family drama with slight murder. TECHNICALLY i wasn’t wrong but i was also /very very/ wrong. You know what I mean?
who would’ve thunk that the story’s gonna be this wild? I mean, really. What CANT you find in this book? You have everything, and i mean everything. Without spoiling anything, the least I could say is this. You like fantastical elements? You like weird random shit happening? so random that the author could, possibly, perhaps, have a massive dart board of wild concepts that he used whenever hes stumped? You like white guy humor? This book might be it for you. This feels like a mix of scarlett thomas, paper girls, the umbrella academy, doom patrol, hitchhiker’s guide and an amalgamation of shit post and writing prompts you find on tumblr. I enjoyed it at times, but it also has the tendency of skirting around the issues at hand within the plot which can be frustrating. Reading this my eyes went the size of saucers at least 5 times just because everything was so unbelievably random.
I have so many questions??? But yeah. This is all I can say for now.

tldr: my mood while reading this *nervous laugh* yooo what is goin ooon
