It was nice to get back to Fitz character. Seeing where he is now. I didn’t feel lost with the time jump. Just interested in what happened during those years. Which I’m sure we may learn more about during the next two books. At least I hope so.
I had missed The Fool. I’m glad he made appearances. But you can’t have Fitz without the Fool to be honest.
Going into this I didn’t know what to expect. Especially knowing it was a time jump. But I was intrigued to find out.
I was on the edge of my seat at times. Especially towards the end. I didn’t know where the story was headed. But I was captivated.
Yet again Hobb broke my heart. Will I ever finish a book not hurt? Probably not.
I wanted to hug Fitz and protect the Prince. I’ll miss Nighteyes. I loved his interactions with Fitz. His personality and sarcasm. Those scenes broke my heart. How do you have Fitz without Nighteyes?
Hobb always leaves me wanting more. I find myself wanting to pick up the next book ASAP. I’m lucky and glad that all the books have already been released so I don’t have to wait too long.
This was slow paced, just like the first Fitz trilogy. But not in a bad or boring way. I could see why some may find it boring, however I enjoyed slowly stepping back into his world. Taking time to set up the story. Which in the long run may help the overall story.
Hobb included the prejudice against the witted. Which I was glad to see be mentioned. I head more is explained in the novella so I will be reading that ASAP to learn more about why they are they way they are against the witted.
Unless Liveship Traders this has less action, the characters don’t seem to go through as much trauma. I say this then book two will probably do twice as much to them.
I enjoyed learning about Old Blood and Witted and hope to learn more throughout the trilogy. There’s still so much to learn and I’m excited to find out more.
