3/5 stars. Don’t hate me! In my opinion, this was overhyped. And I had to set down this book and pick it up as an audiobook because I couldn’t get past Rooney’s lack of quotation marks throughout this.
The story certainly wasn’t bad but it also didn’t blow me away. I felt really underwhelmed by the characters and the story. I feel this story could’ve benefited from being shorter. I found myself getting bored and several scenes felt incredibly receptive to me. At one point I thought that my audiobook sync failed and I was re-listening to a scene only to realize it was a completely different one.
