The world is fascinating but I can’t stand the main character Ning. She will think something and then literally do something contradicting her thought the next page. The plot advances purely as a consequence of her poor decisions. She gets better towards the end but by that point I disliked her so much I don’t want to get her any credit at all. I would have much rather her friend Lien or Princess Zhen be the main character.
