This was a fun read (even laughed a few times) and I definitely saw a lot of my own family dynamic in the characters. I understand that this book is meant to be feel-good (and there is definitely nothing wrong with that because god knows how much we need positivity nowadays), and I hate to even say this, but I feel like the inclusion of LGBTQ+ characters was shoehorned in at the very last second. I actually think it would have been more impactful if Meddy was the one dealing with the queer love storyline because it would have given us an opportunity to see how Asian families deal with that kind of discovery, which is think is something that really needs to be discussed in modern times. It was a missed opportunity for sure, and I'm hoping that one day we will be able to see that kind of story told in a beautiful and realistic way.
