The Fury
by Alex Michaelides
I had a blast with this one, it’s definitely one of the better thrillers I’ve read lately and I finished it in less than 24 hours, which is always a sign that a book worked well for me. The thing that stood out the most to me here was the unique narrator who at times speaks directly to the reader giving it such an intimate feeling as if I was listening to a friend spill their secrets. And the secrets were juicy and addictive, and then the whole time I’m trying to figure out if Elliot is a reliable narrator or not? It’s broken up into five acts with big reveals at the end of each making it really difficult to put down. I found this to be clever and twisty and the little nod to The Silent Patient was subtle and sly yet fun to put together. You may need to suspend some disbelief but overall this one is worth it.
