Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu
4.0
emotional hopeful reflective medium-paced

This is my second Jennifer Mathieu novel, and while I didn't love it as much as Bad Girls Never Say Die, I still read it in a single sitting.

Vivian isn't as loud of a protagonist. She's quiet. She's nice. She keeps her head down, does her homework and doesn't cause trouble. This meant I didn't instantly love Vivian. But underneath, Vivian has a fierce feminist heart that is finally fed up with the way everything works in her little small town.

The stakes are lower. There are no dead bodies for example. Yet Jennifer Mathieu writes about feminism in a way that strikes a chord with me. I want you to understand what that means. As a woman, I'm a bad feminist at worst and a lazy one at best. But Jennifer Mathieu makes me care. Lits a fire within me that I didn't realize I had.
