I liked that I didn't know what was real until about halfway through; Ness writes beautifully enough that I wanted to keep reading even though I wasn't really invested in Seth. I don't like apocalyptic fiction and this isn't apocalyptic but it starts with that vibe and I was struggling to care. But I loved that it turned into a really big-hearted book about friendship, and humanity, and a hearty helping of the importance of environmentalism.
