The first Sunny book was deep. It looked at her life while at grandpas in Florida and what led to her going there. It looked at troubles in a family from a side character and how it affected Sunny, without really affecting her. But now we are on book 3. It’s a year in her life. 7th grade, and it’s the late 70’s so everything should be groovy. Sunny learns about D&D and that it’s okay to not like all the same things your friends do as you grow up. Overall I like the book, and it is a quick read. But it’s not deep. It has heart, but it’s forgettable.
