While I appreciated the dark and atmospheric setting of Victorian London, Stalking Jack the Ripper fell a bit short for me. Audrey Rose Wadsworth, the FMC, had so much potential as a trailblazing young woman fascinated by forensic science, but her detective skills often felt lacking. It was frustrating at times to see her miss obvious clues or make questionable choices during the investigation.

Thomas Cresswell, on the other hand, was the saving grace of this book. His sharp intellect, dry humor, and chemistry with Audrey Rose brought some much-needed intrigue and charm to the story. Without him, I doubt I would have enjoyed it as much.

The murder mystery aspect was engaging enough, though some twists felt predictable. Overall, it’s worth a read if you’re into dark historical fiction with a touch of romance, but don’t expect a deeply complex whodunit.
