a masterful work on the importance of community and the failings of our municipal government to provide adequate support for marginalized and low-income families and individuals.
i love my city, but it is not without it's faults (there are MANY) and Hernandez does an incredible job pulling back the curtain on this reality that many people in our city would rather ignore. poignant, raw, and emotional with regard to both the triumphs and tragedies woven throughout the story.
highly recommend this book. read canadian.
