This book was a huge surprise for me! After the introduction, I thought it would be another clichéd mystery, but I found myself eagerly waiting to continue reading whenever I had to stop. It was incredibly engaging to explore the psychological impact of tragedy on survivors, how it marks a person, and how others take a certain pleasure in observing someone else's misfortunes. The worst begins after surviving.

The story had an excellent pace, with occasional flashbacks that perfectly complemented the present narrative. I loved how these flashbacks became more frequent as the story neared its end. I was thrilled with the decision to showcase the protagonist's aggressive side, illustrating that behind every victim is an aggressor who believes they have a right to their aggression. This was brilliantly depicted in the park scene with the junkie.

It's very rare that I want to reread a mystery, but this is the first one I want to start again right away, which says a lot! The ending was a bit clumsy, and the bad guy's motivation was perhaps not sufficiently explained, but the rest of the book was so good.
