One of *THE* most necessary reads, but reader beware, the stats here will likely enrage you. I marked up most of the book with post-its, at every well-articulated reason for my anger and shocking fact or anecdote- and there were hundreds. I'm so appreciative that Soraya Chemaly compiled these chapters, outlining all stages of a woman's life: as a little girl, as a young woman, as a mother-to-be and new mother, and on and how despite our modern age there are still innumerable obstacles and biases getting in the way of an easier life (read: more like a man's).

If you've ever gotten mad when a man at work or at school interrupted or spoke over you, or changed your schedule so you wouldn't be out on the town or out for a run in the dark, or worried about admitting your pregnancy, or even your engagement to your employer, or felt like you health care provider wasn't taking your symptoms seriously, then you should pick up this book. I wish you all find some much-needed catharsis between these pages.
