Uncovering Our History: Teaching with Primary Sources
by Susan H. Veccia
As someone new to instruction within archives, I've been picking up whatever I can that seems remotely related so I can feel better prepared for the future instruction I do. This book was a big disappointment. What it should have been called is "Uncovering Our History: Teaching with Library of Congress Primary Sources." Not once did it mention going to your local special collections/archive/museum and getting resources from there. Not once did it talk about sending students to the archives, or having the archives come to the classroom - all known and useful tactics in primary source instruction. Online sources are not the be-all, end-all of primary source instruction, and even if they were, there are plenty more repositories than just the Library of Congress!
