A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas
1.0

Okay wow let's just process all of this before I write a rant review.
here's the long awaited RANT!
okay first and for all i want to talk about SJM's writing.
It has only worsened. I feel like she thinks that the SMUT will compensate for the diluted writing style but NOOOOO; it's so bad that sometimes i pause and wonder if I'm truly reading a SJM book. There's a noticeable difference from the ACOTAR trilogy to this. Also the atmosphere is so WRONG???? I can't even describe. The stakes don't even feel that important and at each dramatic scene i couldn't help buy eye roll.
Secondly, Nesta's portrayal in this book.
I've always hated Nesta but i have to admit that after this book I've become a tad bit more understanding of her behaviour. But she still isn't my favourite character. Nesta is painted as this horrid person who's constantly wasted and useless. Everybody is trying to "help" her (yes i used speech marks) but throughout the whole first half and even in the end she's looked down upon as though she was the reason for her own behaviour but that's not how TRAUMA works!!!! i just couldn't stand Elain's and Amren's words and behaviours toward Nesta. Nesta truly suffers from the post-war TRAUMA. Everywone including Cassian lakes it a point to tell her that it's her own fault for not trying to get better but HOW IN HELL IS SHE SUPPOSED TO GET BETTER if you all condescend her and treat her disrespectfully????!!!! Oh and when i say disrespectful i mean truly and utterly insulting behaviour (even from Rhysand who's supposed to be the most understanding of the bunch. They force her to go up the safe house or whatever and train with Cassian she isn't given any type of compassion (except from her sister Feyre, aka one of the few characters i liked.)
Then in the second half of the book she is used as a weapon and isn't given a choice despite Rhysands stupid line "It's your choice" (if i ever see this line again i'll combust). Even when she knows that using her power will definitely bring her back to that dark place that howls and eats at her insides, she is forced to help the inner circle to prove them that she isn't a failure. I relate to her on some levels and mostly on her depressive aspect as i've gone through it in the past and some things are very well portrayed whilst others are just... BIZARRE. It's as if SJM had searched everything online before drafting her book.
Yes, we get tired. Yes, we tend to stop eating as everything turn to ash. Yes, we get angry at the smallest of contraventions. But it isn't OUR fault. And i just can't overlook the fact that NESTA is constantly blamed for her influenced actions. From everyone in the inner circle only Feyre regards her with compassion. Mor must be the worst of the lot, she even tells Nesta that she deserves a place amongst the people under the mountain and that she didn't deserve Cassian's attention (or something along the lines). LIKE WHATTTTT IN THE WORLD IS WRONG WITH YOU?????
Here's the list of (the few) people i liked:
-Feyre
-Emerie
-Eris (omg i think i might've fallen for him)

Can we talk about how cruel the inner circle is with ERIS? He became their PUNCHING BAG and they used him and talked about him with such distaste that it made me unwary; this wasn't the court i fell in love with in the trilogy, this wasn't the understanding, welcoming night court.
I just can't-
i can go on for days on end but i'd like to go to sleep now. It's 3 am and i have other books to read.
