I could not get over how short season 8 of Queer Eye was, so I decided now was the time to finally listen to Jonathan Van Ness's memoir. I had been putting it off because his public persona is so high energy that I thought the six hours of audio would be a lot to take in. I listened to it in 3 stretches, and it was a lot, but he talks about so many serious and deep topics in his life that it isn't bubbly positive chatter the whole time.

Like, no secrets left untold, years of self destructive behaviors laid out in the open. I for sure wouldn't have had the guts to reveal all of that about my personal life. By being so honest and intimate, I think JVN boldly sweeps shame out from under the rug, helps destigmatize people with addictions, and brings dignity to people who are on abusive paths. Honestly, he is a gem!
