Sure the language is pretty, but how can anyone expect me to like Milton's incredibly misogynistic view of women? This is a man who devoted years and years to his religious studies before even attempting to write this poem. He was a scholar and brilliant, yet he still painted Eve (and women in general) in such negative lights that I was shaking from anger.
