The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton
5.0

Kate Morton knows how to write good, gothic stories full of dark family secrets and mysterious characters who hold the keys to their unlocking and The Secret Keeper was one of her best, IMHO.

It's got a murder, a love story, a betrayal and a decades old grudge which unfolds in England before the second world war and continues to the present day when the next generation finally figures out what really happened.

I loved the settings as they switched between Britain during the war and the modern day cottages set in the countryside. Although I don't think this is technically considered a mystery, it kept me guessing what really had happened until the very end.
