東京喰種トーキョーグール 4 [Tokyo Guru 4]
by Sui Ishida
Tokyo Ghoul volume 4 is all about world building. Giving time for other characters to be introduced and learning about the life of other ghouls.
This volume introduces Shuu Tsukiyama, who just so happens to love eating other Ghouls. He also host a dinner in which ghouls simply tear apart other humans/ghouls and eat them. Pretty screwed up, huh? The rest of the volume also focuses on Kaneki learning to become a fighter. It's pretty interesting to see a training session and that he just doesn't become a warrior overnight. Always refreshing.
Good: The volume gives us Shuu Tsukiyama, the psycho, and for that alone it's entertaining. I also loved watching Kaneki grow and begin to realize this world isn't as simple as black and white, and there's a lot of grey morality questions.
Bad: It's slower paced and probably the least action volume. Not that it's a horrible thing but it feels dramatically slowed down compared to the last few volumes.
Overall another solid volume. Not mindblowing but this was pretty kickass. I'ma go with a 3.5 out of 5.
