The Cruel Prince

This review hasn't been online for a month and Goodreads already deleted my rating...

It took me some time getting into it, I wasn't immediately convinced. At some point I thought I wouldn't enjoy this as much as other people did - because with a lot of popular books, that's the case. But then around the middle of the book, it started to get interesting, and I was definitely convinced.
I like that this book isn't fully focused on romance. I mean, I love YA romance books, I love shipping characters, but it was still a nice change.
I did not expect to like Cardan, and I hated him until the ending of the book. I'm not sure I like him yet, but I don't hate him anymore either, he's definitely an interesting character.
The ending didn't really surprise me. I suspected a little, because I already know the title of the second book in this series. 'The Wicked King'. Though I also kinda expected the plan to fail and Balekin to be that 'Wicked King'.
I'm curious to continue this series soon!
