tshepiso 's review for:
D'Vaughn and Kris Plan a Wedding
by Chencia C. Higgins
DID NOT FINISH: 23%
DNF'd on: August 1st
DNF'd at: 23%
D'Vaughn and Kris Plan a Wedding was the final victim of the summer reading malise and it's the one I most want to make an effort to return to. Probably because it's the THIRD black sapphic romance I've DNF'd this year. There are already so few of them that I probably can't afford to be as picky about them as I have been.
Outside of just being demotivated to read I think the premise of this novel offered some hurdles in getting into it. The way Chencia C. Higgins framed the reality tv show that scaffolded the premise felt off. Especially because the logistics of the production just made no sense if you know even a little bit about the way reality dating shows work. Hopefully it'll work for me more when I'm in better headspace.
