in our hands by Larissa C. Moyer
4.0

'in our hands' was such a wholesome book. I laughed, cried, and felt all the emotions (some that I didn't want to feel) while reading. I really loved Otis and Evelyn's characters, I loved the dynamic and friendship they had. I loved the reoccurring inside jokes they had throughout the book and how we got flashbacks so we could see where these jokes came from. I appreciated the flashbacks of the friendships between Otis, Dean and Evelyn. It really helped develop the story and gave me a good sense of their dynamic and how it had changed as they got older. I honestly really hated Deans character (which I feel like was justified for most of the book), but ended up not really feeling the resolution between them at the end. I found his reasoning for all his actions seven years ago very manipulative and it continued to make me roll my eyes. I think Evelyn mentioned something along the line of "I'm so sorry my assault was so hard for YOU" and quite honestly that stayed my mindset throughout every scene with Dean. I'm glad that the characters fixed their relationship with Dean, and I am interesting in how Dean's book will go, but I am still very mad at him. Otis agreeing with the "I can see how hard it was on him" mindset at the end also made me angry. That was really the only bits that I was like 'huh' at, I really enjoyed this book. I loved all the side characters and the plot flowed nicely. There were a few time jumps towards the end, but they were easy to follow and didn't mess with the plot too much. I really loved this book and am interested to see what Larissa Moyer does with Dean and his story.
Huge thank you to Larissa C. Moyer and SunnyBabePR for this copy of the book!!
