Winter at the Dog & Duck
by Jill Steeples
I was hoping for a light-hearted Christmas feel good book. This was almost there, but lacking in some areas. I wasn't in love with the main character Ellie. She seemed very self-centered. Ellie has recently lost her big time finance job in London and moved home to live in her parents house in the quiet town she grew up in while her parents are on an extended business trip. She decides to walk dogs and tend bar for a living while getting reacquainted with her old friends. Ellie ends up falling in love with the new successful bachelor in town. The pub she works at goes up for sale and her world crumbles. Ellie starts to feel very entitled to me, especially regarding the Pub and goings on of her small town. The romance was very easy to see coming and held no true surprises. If you are looking for a quick, easy, romance, then this is the book for you. Thank you Netgalley for this galley in exchange for an honest review.
