More Than Just a Pretty Face by Syed M. Masood
4.0

I love this book. I loved how it took series of topics about colonization, imperialism, glorification of history, and revenge porn, make them both interesting to learn about without weighing the reader down. That is difficult for the media to do, and Masood succeeded. Like the title suggests, More Than Just a Pretty Face also discusses making impressions just based off someone's physical appearance.

The main character, Danyal Jilani, has all the confidence in the world stemming from his attractive appearance but is continuously belittle due to an overall lack of interest in school. Jilani is extremely capable and intelligent in ways outside of traditional book learning, but this is often overlooked by his peers and parents. Masood's focus on different educational paths other than higher education is a great way of normalizing teenagers not going to college and pursuing other opportunities.

I give this book 4 stars. I had a great time listening to the story.
